Thanksgiving -- a time to express gratitude!

Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”  Our mission is to impact students' lives to become the best version of themselves, not just for today but for their future.  Because of everything you do to support Operation Xcel, we can help students feel valued, respected, and cared for.  Your generous gifts of time and monetary donations allow us to inspire learners “to excel in every area of their lives and make meaningful changes in the world.” 

A classic example of a changed life in our program is Evan. Evan is an eighth grader in his third and final year at the Jamestown Middle School Operation Homework site. Evan is on the autism spectrum, which made social interactions and paying attention in class difficult for him. However, with the help of the Operation Homework teachers and social-emotional learning strategies, Evan exceeded his goal of achieving the A/B honor roll throughout 7th grade. By the end of the year, Evan had even made the A honor roll and is now engaging more with his peers and offering help to his teachers. Evan is a role model student who demonstrates that Operation Xcel is where learners are inspired to excel in every area of their lives. 

We express our deepest gratitude for your contributions that help us prepare students for their future, both in and beyond college. Thank you for generously providing financial resources to sustain our programs. We also appreciate your dedicated time volunteering and helping our students grow academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. Your donations of snacks and supplies have helped our students learn without any lack. Your monetary gifts have enabled us to keep some of our sites open, pay our staff, run our transportation, and provide student security. We don't take your giving for granted. We are grateful for your continuous efforts to help us succeed and serve as many students as possible.

On Tuesday, November 28th, we offer you another opportunity to help us continue our programs without sacrificing the quality of our programs or with fewer resources.  This coming Tuesday is Giving Tuesday—a day that small businesses and nonprofits look to donors to help fund their programs.  Currently, we are operating our programs with one less site than in previous years.  We have more than 150 students on the waiting list for our afterschool program.  We had to close a site and turn away students because our funding is $400,000.00 less than last year.  Your continued support is valued and appreciated so that we can continue to achieve significant results like we did in 2022.  (Look at our Impact Report from the 2022 -2023 school year).  (Look at our Impact Report from the 2022 -2023 school year).
