Evan is an eighth grader and is now in his third and final year as an afterschool student at the Jamestown Middle School Operation Homework site. Evan is on the autism spectrum, which made social interactions and paying attention in class difficult for him. However, with the help of the Operation Homework teachers and social-emotional learning strategies, Evan exceeded his personal goal of achieving the A/B honor roll throughout 7th grade. By the end of the year, Evan had made the A honor roll and is now engaging more with his peers and offering help to his teachers. Evan is a role model student who demonstrates that Operation Xcel is indeed a place where learners are inspired to excel in every area of their lives.
